About Port Street Beer House

Port Street Beer House has been pouring on a back street in the Northern Quarter since 2011, when it opened in a former shop, and it remains one of the cornerstones of the city's craft beer scene. It is independent, and a sister to Common and The Beagle.

There are seven handpulls, mostly given to northern breweries, and 18 keg lines, with the list turning over every few weeks and covering everything from pilsner and IPA to stout and sour. Hundreds of cans and bottles from the UK, Europe and the US sit in the fridges to drink in or take home, along with real cider and a good spirits list. The ground floor is a compact, wood-panelled bar, the first floor is roomier and doubles as a function room, and a small yard at the back works as a beer garden on warm evenings. Tap takeovers, beer launches, tastings and a quiz fill the calendar, dogs are welcome, and children are allowed until early evening. Cask drinkers should look out for the weekday afternoon discount.
