About Northern Monk Refectory MCR
Northern Monk Refectory MCR is the Manchester home of the Leeds brewery, on Tariff Street in the Northern Quarter. It opened in 2018 in the listed building that used to house Kosmonaut, and it makes an easy stop after work or before a gig.
There are 20 keg lines and four cask lines, most of them pouring fresh Northern Monk beer alongside a few guests, and a fridge of the latest cans that you can also take away. Food comes from Cardinal Rule, who run the kitchen and make Southern-style biscuits and fried chicken the way it is done in Virginia, with brunch at weekends. Downstairs, the Cellar Bar has its own bar and bench seating for around 65, and can be booked for parties and events. Expect a regular quiz, tap takeovers, beer launches and live music. Note that there is no step-free access or lift, and no accessible toilet.
