Blackjack Brewery

Blackjack Brew Co has been brewing from a railway arch on Irk Street, beside Angel Meadow on the edge of the Green Quarter, since 2012. The brewery's stated aim is approachable, balanced beer made to style, taking its cue from British pub culture. The flagship is Irk Street, a 3.8% pale hopped with Amarillo and Citra, poured on cask and sold in cans, and the wider range runs from Salvation! session IPA and Hazy Meadow pale to Pub Ale best bitter, Manchester Stout and Early-Days Northern Porter.

The tap itself is an occasional affair. The brewery opens its yard to drinkers on a handful of Friday and Saturday weekends through the summer, pouring its keg beers and sometimes cask, with a garden, dogs welcome and food on some dates. Check the Brewtap page for the next dates before you head over. The rest of the year the beers are easiest to find in cans from the web shop, which delivers, or on the bar at pubs across the city.
